If you are using any of the Freescale processors - 68HC08, 68HCS08, 68HC12, 68HCS12, 68HC16, 68xxx, ColdFire, MCORE, PPC or MAC 71xx/72xx (ARM) then these BDM/JTAG based devices will do most of the things an ICE will do but at a fraction of the cost. They can be used for assembler or high level debugging or flash programming in the development lab. PC based or standalone flash programming can also be integrated into production and test systems.
